We can blame them when they don't listen, though.

I'm using some python modules where upstream outright tells users they
shouldn't use the packaged versions of their modules and should just do
everything using a random latest version downloaded inside a virtualenv.

This basically means that if you want to use stable packaged versions of
such modules, with security support and proper integration with the rest
of a (not necessarily all-python) distribution, you're cut out of the
ecosystem. You'll have to stick to the well-known core, and stay away
from all the fancy new things.

Actually, most of the fancy new things are unstable loads of shiny
bollocks and the few that actually work and are useful for something,
eventually make it into the stable, well-known core, so this isn't a bad
thing at all.

Still, I wish they'd listen.
