To hopefully amplify Mike's point, I currently have a 32bit chroot to
run mozart-oz (needed for $WORK) on my amd64 desktop. I'm sure there
are many other examples. Setting up a chroot is a barrier for many
users (even if schroot and debootstrap make it fairly easy in practice
on Debian). Of course all software should become 64bit clean
eventually, but here we are. I suppose some motivated person could
survey all the software in the archive that is present on i386 but not
on amd64.

All the best

David
