Severity: normal

Configuring http/ftp proxies for a host is too complicated. There are too many
places where the administrator (or user) needs to enter the proxy configuration.
At system install time, you are prompted for the proxy settings, but these
settings appear to only be used by apt. It would be nice if there were a
global proxy configuration, which every package would use.

Incidentally, here is a list of the packages that had to be configured by hand:
wget-ssl
reportbug
konqueror
mozilla-browser

Hi,

global proxy configuration works via the http_proxy variable works with most
programs, if not, please file seperate bugs against those packages.
