Many thanks!  I never liked the way it's currently done (in particular
when I find one more package diverting one more of *TeX*'s files without
giving us maintainers a hint), and I very much look forward to a
control-file way to do it.

I don't understand the workings of dpkg-divert enough to make a
suggestion here...
