<Kamion> to be perfectly honest I don't even remember what I told him any
more; it didn't seem particularly important at the time. There was
certainly a bug in the kernel-latest package names, where base-installer
would have ended up just installing "kernel-image-powerpc" or something for
2.6 kernels, and I thought that was inappropriate.
<Kamion> So I did say that I thought things like "kernel-image-2.6-powerpc"
ought to exist before I would make base-installer use them. It didn't have
 anything to do with kernel-headers

Attached is the full diff between the first version of this package (100)
that you uploaded, which was accepted into the archive on 7 Dec 2004, and
version 101 of the package that sat in the NEW queue for two months. The
*entirety* of the change is the renaming of the kernel-headers packages,
which was low priority and *absolutely irrelevant to the release and to the
installer*. The kernel-image-2.4-powerpc and kernel-image-2.6-powerpc
packages were *already in testing at the time version 101 cleared NEW*.

So either Colin misunderstood the state of the kernel-latest-powerpc
packaging at the beginning of the year (which is understandable given that
he says he didn't assign much importance to this issue), or his objections
related to some other problem that was subsequently resolved, or there is a
more subtle bug here that you *still* haven't addressed because you've been
too busy pissing and moaning on mailing lists about how the evil ftpmasters
have thwarted you by delaying your super-critical header package updates.

The only thing more preposterous than claiming Colin told you the kernel
headers had to be changed for the installer, is your unquestioning
acceptance that such a change was needed.

And you have the audacity to tell me that *I* have no clue and can't
communicate?

Fuck you.

Friendly,
