  I use this in amarok:

common-binary-post-install-arch::
        for p in $(filter-out amarok,$(DEB_ALL_PACKAGES)); do \
          rm -rf debian/$$p/usr/share/doc/$$p; \
          ln -sf amarok debian/$$p/usr/share/doc/$$p; \
        done
