I hope this gets straighted out & resolved. Transcode is excellent
software and is licensed under the GPL and should be included in Debian.
No codecs are packaged inside of transcode & it is completely usable
PS: of interest to the mplayer thread: motion.c allows mpeg-1 & mpeg-2
