I hope this gets straighted out & resolved. Transcode is excellent software and is licensed under the GPL and should be included in Debian. No codecs are packaged inside of transcode & it is completely usable with OGG/OGM.
JeffPS: of interest to the mplayer thread: motion.c allows mpeg-1 & mpeg-2 support for non-commercial software. AKA: GPL/LGPL'd implementations are allowed.
