so far as i recall, during the spanish civil war, there were some
"blobs" where international anarchists tried to live their ideas.
they still had "order" in a way that they did their daily work [0]
but didn't have an authority to supervise them.
this must have been fairly close to heaven.
i'm not so sure if they would have succeeded on a long term basis but
since their experiments were brought to an end (by the republicans!) one
will probably[1] never know.

[0] mainly sowing, harvesting and stuff like that. i suppose.
[1] experimenting with diffenrent form of societies requieres a least a
small territory which would be hard to defend when you don't have a
government or an army.
