It is written in python :-)
Or, maybe I did not know about pmount until you pointed it out.
But one advantage is there: mountpy scans all (or selected) devices
under /dev and mounts those accessible, so it is better suited for
less-linux-literate users. And later it might do something with 
processes holding the device...
