DFSG #4 was specifically written explicitly to accomodate a situation where the user would potentially lose the right to support if he modified the program. ABISource's intent was to support their official version only. Now, you can always go back to the official version when you need support. But if you are going to modify the program, it only seems fair that you should take on the support burden for your modification.
