The failure did corrupt the apt/dpkg status resulting in apt-get
always suggesting "run apt-get -f install" to corret the problem. Due
to that no new Build-Depends can be installed and every build just
fails.

Sometimes a failure to remove something can be ignored, sometimes it
breaks apt. This one was of the later kind.
