test/main version levels

Is this the correct list to ask about the status of test/main and
various software version levels maintained as compared to version
levels found at the source.

For example, apt-get install slapd installs 2.1.3 but OpenLDAP is at 2.2.x

Plus I am seeing self-signed certs LDAPS causing the Debian server to
hang (I'm on Ultrasparc.)

debian:~# apt-config dump

... etc ...
