problems with ftp.us.debian.org mirror
I'm not sure that debian-devel is the right list for this, but I didn't hear
back from mirrors@debian.org.
For the last two weeks or so, I have been having problems with the
ftp.us.debian.org mirrors. It often takes me two or three tries to get the
current packages file using dselect udpate. Then, I often need to try two
or three times to actually download the updated .debs.
Investigating futher, I see
$ dig +short ftp.us.debian.org
128.101.80.131
204.152.189.120
208.185.25.35
216.37.55.114
35.9.37.225
$ dig +short -x 128.101.80.131
debian-mirror.cs.umn.edu.
$ dig +short -x 204.152.189.120
120.112-28.189.152.204.in-addr.arpa.
mirrors.kernel.org.
$ dig +short -x 208.185.25.35
newsamosa.debian.org.
$ dig +short -x 216.37.55.114
rama.progeny.com.
$ dig +short -x 35.9.37.225
ike.egr.msu.edu.
And, looking at the modified date for
ftp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/debian/dists/unstable/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz on
each of these servers, I see
128.101.80.131 11/26/2004 08:05 pm
204.152.189.120 11/25/2004 08:08 pm
208.185.25.35 11/26/2004 08:05 pm
216.37.55.114 11/18/2004 08:04 pm
35.9.37.225 11/25/2004 08:08 pm
So, it seems that the progeny mirror is 8 days behind, and the kernel.org
and msu.edu mirrors are 1 day behind.
