Mozilla "PostScript/default" security problems
Hello!
I am a mere user, but I am annoyed a bit about the current Mozilla
situation, so I dare to speak up here ; )
As Reid has pointed out, the direct PostScript backend was removed
from Mozilla. Not ony is this a major inconvenience for many
users (as setup of XPrint is no fun IMHO), it causes unsolvable
problems for some (XPrint not working on PPC), but -- and I don't
think this has been mentioned here: It breaks two browsers,
namely Epiphany and Galeon, leaving Gnome without its default
browser and the other well-integrated option.
To make things worse, mozilla has no dependency on xprint, so people
might end up with a browser that does not print very easily.
*and*
Nobody actually has shown *any* serious advisories, security bug reports,
actions of other distributions, actions of upstream etc.
If this is really a security problem, I want to be informed about
this, as I run Mozilla 1.6 on some of my machines!
If all that holds back printing in my default browser (Epiphany) is
a rumour, then please give me the PS backend back!
Thanks!
/ralph -- at least turn the "reccomends" for xprt-xprintorg into
a depends, as a browser that does not print is not very
useful.
