Hi all,
I am trying to run and test maxdb. The installation process goes on ok and I even could create a daatabase, but trying to start the database I got this error message:
runtime environment error
1,Check knldiag! Kernel died before reaching ADMIN state

The knldiag file for your database is located in /var/lib/maxdb/data/wrk/yourdatabasename/ and should contain some more information. How did you create your database? Did you use one of the example scripts? If not, I would recommend examining them because setting up a database instance is a multi-step procedure in MaxDB (using the insttestdb.dbm script of the maxdb-dbmcli package should get you going). If you used one of the scripts, don't forget to export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 if you are using a Linux 2.6 kernel before trying to start the database.

It is also a good idea to check the list archives of the maxdb mailing list at MySQL (http://lists.mysql.com/list.php?list=maxdb#b) for common problems.

Best wishes,

Martin.
