* Survey
- Q: Are you a: (note: you may choose more than one)
A:
[ ] Debian developer, or otherwise involved in contributing to Debian
[ ] Free software developer
[x] User, using Debian for: home server
[x] Other: secondary desktop pc - (main is Mandrake 9.2)
- Q: Could you please provide one or two typical episodes (whatever you feel
like) of your life with Debian?
A: Debian was the first distro I tried to install years ago - never did get X11 working! Redhat ditto, but Corel worked OK.
- Q: Could you please provide one or two fantasy episodes of your life with
Debian, if you were to make a movie or a comic strip about yourself as a
Debian protagonist?
A: I'm a bit old for that, my rabble-rousing days are long past, but I am trying to teach my grandchildren about controlling their computers, and not letting M$ control them.
- Q: What Debian distribution are you using?
A: Stable
- Q: What do you think people use Debian for?
A: Mostly trusted servers.
- Q: What is the thing you most frequently use Debian for?
A: As above.
- Q: What do you think is the most INTERESTING aspect or feature of Debian?
A: The Debian Social Contract.
- Q: Are there some aspects or features of Debian that do not satisfy you?
A: Nothing really - except that I'm on a 28.8k dialup.
- Q: What do you think is the most USEFUL aspect or feature of Debian?
A: Updating a working system, and knowing there will be no problems.
- Q: Is there something you especially like doing with Debian? What is it?
A: "apt-get update && apt-get upgrade" and sit back and relax with a cuppa.
- Q: Is there something you DO NOT like doing with Debian? What is it?
A: Setting up hardware.
- Q: What is the MOST SUCCESSFUL deed you have achieved with Debian?
A: Getting my old home server to boot from Raid with 3 old 1.6Gig disks.
- Please take a moment to recall what is the WORST INCIDENT you had
with Debian.
Q: What was it?
A: Too many to pick just one - mostly hardware related.
Q: How did you get into it, and out of it?
A: 1. Trying to do things without sufficent RTFMing.
2. RTFMing and Googling - not always sucessfully.
- Imagine you have a crystal ball allowing you to see 10 years in the
future, and have a look inside.
Q: Will you still be using Debian?
A: Definitely - (if it still exists, and I believe it will).
(oh, and if I still exist - I'm a grey geek).
Q: If yes, what will you be doing with it?
A: Main desktop pc - I hope to have all the hardware sorted by then!
- Q: Finally, please feel free to leave any feedback to Debian Developers
A: Keep the Flame.
Cheers, Fred.
