OTOH, that whole project-utopia (of which D-Bus is part of) thing looks
interesting enough to keep in mind for consideration as a potential
valuable addition to our base system in terms of end-user experience, if
we manage to get the pieces (udev, HAL, D-Bus, etc. plus desktop
environment hooks) work together nicely.

Just pointing this out, without having looked at the udev .deb yet.
