One of the things that can make maintainers fix their bugs, is the release.
When you exclude (or delay) some archs, some bugs will never get fixed by
the maintainers. Ergo, it is very unlikely that non-core archs would release
anyway. 
The porters are there to get the arch working and compiling packages and to
port some things to their arch - not to fix maintainers (RC) bugs.
