As recently as a few weeks ago, we had even more kernels than we do
architectures. Each architecture should at least be able to limit itself to
one kernel release, but even that is too much. Patching and releasing
updates for so many different kernels requiring weeks of effort every time a
new kernel security bug is discovered.
