How is this related with bootsplash (www.bootsplash.org) ? Hey, we are geeks but we are also humans, and making boot and console prettier is a human thing. After recompiling my kernel and making lots of changes in /etc/init.d/{rc,rcS} I have an progress bar and a cute tux behind my tty[0-5] (this makes me remember gnome-terminal w/ transparent background, but very faster). We could even make a Debian theme, doesn't seems to be difficult =P.
