Don't know, i find it as silly as well. Had this lately again, didn't 
complain any further, but

- it gave me lots of work to do
- i have to have some Debian pkgs at hold and can't just use the buggy 
pkgs, but have to stay uptodate with my private patches (silly!!)
 - i can only hope that the maintainer will do anything at any time to 
remedy the situation, while i (as a Debian user) can only (hopelessly) 
wait for that.

But then, it wasn't about a possibly unnecessary argument ...
