hum, II said that ? I said you would have to build it from scratch, in
order to comply with policy, I didn't say its impossible. In general
KNOPPIX is a hack, a working one, I have to admit.

It would be great if Debian could incorporate its hardware detection ...
but if so, then it should be the Debian way. This way standard
installation could profit from the autodetection too. All the other
startup tricks have to be looked at and incorporated into their
corresponding Debian package if they are better/easier to use.
(hotplug, pcmcia, automounts, etc. etc.)

The goal should be to improve Debian in general, not only to be able to
make a Live CD.

The rest is copying your favourite KDE or whatever setup, haveing proper
taks packages  and compressing the image.
