As usually, a variety of lessons can found in that story. I don't
see the key point being its bootstrapping nature; it was simply
a large, hairy program that was more work to keep building then
it was worth to any Debian developer. A 100,000 line C++ program
that was unmaintained upstream and broke every time g++ updated
could easily meet the same fate.
