Indeed, it's looking likely that GregKH's `udev' will replace devfs
sometime in the future.

[It was amusing to see Christoph Hellwig's recent patch on the lkml
changing devfs from `EXPERIMENTAL' directly to `OBSOLETE' (and he has a
fairly good record of getting devfs patches accepted by Linus).  :-/ ]
