I notice that today is the first anniversary of the latest
release of ifupdown, and the second anniversary of the latest
_maintainer_ release. That's quite understandable, of course,
given that there are only 124 bugs open against ifupdown. Still,
it risks becoming an attractive target for the sort of action
you are proposing.
