Colin was right that I would have to use conflicts if I removed the
SONAME from the library package name.

It's never necessary to have multiple libgeda versions installed. The
geda-* packages need to be upgraded all at once. They all share
geda-symbols, for one thing. Upstream doesn't intend for different
versions to be mixed.
