Hi,
Recently I re-raised the issue of a simple wallpaper package for
Debian, which would hopefully be window manager and desktop environment
independent.
At the time I held of posting it because I was unsure of the status
of the images I happen to have for my backdrops. Thankfully this issue
has now been resolved.
I've placed my two packages online at the following apt source
http://www.steve.org.uk/apt/ - the page has details of what to add
and which packages are available.
wallpapers-common
This is the base package, which contains a couple of images and
the script necessary to do the real work.
wallpapers-lotr [2.5mb - to warn you in advance ;]
A collection of Tolkien inspired artwork.
At the moment I'm aware of a few small flaws, such as potential filename
collision of the images, and the fact that the desktop size is not
autodetected.
I believe I can handle the desktop size issue via `xprops`, and can
solve the issue of filename collision by storing images in directories
corresponding to the name of the packages. Both of these will require
a small amount of additional work.
I'd appreciate any other problem reports, or comments though!
Steve
