Actually, what I really meant was that I don't see that we need to
release something with a new major version once a year, for example. So
if our next release is a year away but isn't really that significant, we
shouldn't feel compelled to increment our major version number.

So far the C++ transition doesn't seem significant enough to me. The new
installer might be, but OTOH installation is once and operation is
forever..
