Well, it makes some things easier, like installing to a network
filesystem, or installing at an alternate location. 90% of all scripts
contain standard tasks only, and having them represented in another
form can increase tunability.
(Note I'm not saying we should drop them, too, only that the idea
isn't totally bogus.)
