In the case of bug #127961, I have to say that the debconf version looks
simpler and easier to read then the original version. (I am not acutally
sure why anybody would answer the question with anything but "yes"
though; to me it would appear to be a classic example of a question that
doesn't need to be asked).

One potential point of confusion (judging from other E-Mails), if
debconf is made mandatory for prompting the user, does this mean
packages cannot use conffiles anymore?

I suspect that packages that use only conffiles and no maintainer
scripts that ask for input can go unchanged, as the prompting would then
be dpkg's fault. Am I right?
