That's actually version 1.4.0.99beta-1, even though it claims to be
1.4.1. The difference between 1.4.0 and the true 1.4.1 are related to
JNI code, so will show up in few applications. 

I do have my programs working in a limited way using kaffe - the
problems with them are related to speed (kaffe is slow at jni) and more
importantly the gnome classes don't work. Hence, I am unable to work on
toolbars, menus and the status bar. I do have assurances from non-Debian
users that the example apps do work fine for them, so I guess I'll just
have to wait for updates to other packages. I have tried debugging, but
without success - some of the variables seems to be changing in the
middle of a glib call when it cannot possibly be doing so. 

I will probably upload packages of what I've done so far in a couple of
days, once I've implemented a better way of checking for updated
reports.
