You know, at work I run stable, 'cause I don't really have time to screw
around with upgrades and re-tweaking stuff every few days, and you know
what? Despite the release of Mozilla 1.1 and Gnome 2.whatever, my stuff
still works. It didn't simply up and die just because new versions came
out. A lot of people have better things to do than sweat blood because
their installation of bitchx is a point-release behind. Is Mozilla 1.1 a
better program than 1.0? Sure. But Mozilla 1.0 still seems to be able to
display webpages.

And for 95% of the software in Debian, if you really really
want the latest stuff, add the necessary deb-src line to your
/etc/apt/sources.list and 'man apt-get'.

Extremely special case.

Interesting. I've been using it for my desktop since before Redhat
*existed*. Worked fine. Still does. Still, in fact, works better than
Redhat 7.3 (have played with 8) for my purposes.

Look, Debian may not suit *your* needs/desires. That's fine. If Gentoo
works better for you, that's great. That's why there's more than one
distro. But going from "Debian doesn't suit me" to "Debian is is
inadequate on the Desktop" is a big stretch.
