I would like to ask people for help with the rather long list of
postgresql bugs, though I don't know if this bsp is the right way to
handle it.

The current position of the package is this:

7.2.3-3 has just been uploaded, and there are currently no RC bugs open.

7.3 is due to be released upstream within a fortnight (barring any
serious bugs' being found) and I have just about got the packaging of
that to a usable state. It has been completely repackaged, using dbs,
because the upstream source has been split. I have also taken the
opportunity to do a correct split-down of the library and development
binary packages.

7.3 is a major upstream change, most particularly in that it introduces
schemas. There are also changes to configuration file formats. This
has required changes to the installation scripts, and I have also
converted the package to use debconf. So there is plenty of new stuff
that needs extensive testing. It would be very helpful if some people
can go through the existing bugs to see which ones can now be closed.
Very likely, many have become irrelevant, but they may need to be
replaced by new ones :-(

I have uploaded postgresql-7.3rc1-1 to experimental, and the packaging
has been imported to CVS under cvs.debian.org:/cvs/pgsql-deb

Likely problem areas: the upgrading process is a lot more delicate,
because the format of pg_hba.conf and the content of postgresql.,conf
have both changed; so that the 7.2 postmaster needs one and the 7.3
needs another.
