But would you consider naming OpenSSH "openssh.org"? Makes people think they're downloading a website or something. I agree, I think the .org should be tossed unless there is some restriction on it being there?

No. Giving the debian package a different name just causes other
problems, with no long-term benefit. (E.g., our "ssh" package causes a
lot of people to ask where to get "openssh" for debian.)
