yes indeed you are right ...but..:-)
[note: do not think we are trying to differentiate or else we simply try 
to get things working and in a simple way and try to get around problems 
we face...ok back to the kernel] 

Our kernel image does have:
1- two versions, one with acpi patch and one with apm (untill lerne     
2.4.20 there is no other way than having all-in-one (no-tm) )
2- various patches built in low latency - preempt and soon, probably    
couple of more because we decide to use desktop project as desktop.
So following the debian policy on kernel name our kernel would result in 
a name longer than my emails...:-)
We think considered that and decided to compress all this under a simple 
kernel-<number-architecture-acpi-or-apm-demudi_>.deb
..and still is long.
in the description (apt short and large description) + in the demudi    
site that will be explained.
