Please try and be serious.

Re-writing large parts of the kernel and the user-space utilities to match is
a serious task. Even when it is complete we will still be supporting the old
code for a long time (we still support 2.2 kernels now).

Making a one line change to a script is an easy thing to do and can be done
now with no pain.

Adam, if I was to take your approach then I would close most bugs filed
against LILO with the message "get a new BIOS and it'll all work".

In fact if I used your line of reasoning then I expect I could close most bugs
filed against my packages (and also save myself a lot of development time
that currently goes into work-arounds for bugs in other people's code). With
that development time spent on fixing other bugs instead I could probably get
all bugs against all my packages closed.

But that wouldn't give a good result.
