Once again, you can use a different syslogd if that's something you
want.

And i don't like syslog too much... i don't care if it's a posix

Why does apache not use syslog? because it's too limited for apache's
needs.

Yeah, like the fact that apache logs *shouldn't* be centralized. (There
can be per-vhost logs, with completely different groups having access to
different logs--which is not something that needs to be addressed in the
central syslog model.)
