Again, if we must have a date and other useless info in a version
string, I'd much rather have:

   $ gcc --version
   3.1.1
   $ gcc --full-version-info-and-possibly-tip-of-the-day
   blah blah blah 3.1.1 blah blah

Note that it's only this specific Debian gcc prerelease that has this
problem.
