Neither man page nor the getent --help were so useful, but i suppose it is not
aware of PAM, for examples.

I think he was talking about package configuation utilities, not users
programs: indeed, Debian utilities to configure a package will be useful
whenever we'll face other architecture where the standard unix/linux tool will
not be available.
