Of course, Transgaming's WineX is neither free software nor open source,
so none of these arguments are really applicable.

This would be more appropriate if people were paying for the right to
download binary versions of slackware, and it was under a non-free
license, and future development depended on people continuing to pay,
none of which AFAIK was true.
