Well, the reason I buy software recently (or services, in this case) is
twofold: first, because I need or want the software, and second, because
there is a promise of contribution to Free Software. Loki did this with
their various free software projects, and Transgaming promise to do this
more in the future. (Check out wine-legal on winehq.com to see how
they're proposing to do this. Whether or not it's correct is up to the
reader to determine.) 

Saying that people cannot redistribute the combination of Wine and their
code may be unpalatable to some, but it's exactly what the Wine License
was intended to allow. (The fact that people decided that this was not
really what they wanted later is something entirely different.)
