You know, IIRC Linux had something like this as well. It was called
'Inheriting File System', it allowed you to 'write' to a live CD image. For
some reason, it does not exist anymore.

I never tried it, so I don't know how it worked. Maybe it's just a disk full
of symlinks, that would make it a bit less impressive..

Btw: How are you going to implement two users having one and the same
package installed? Two copies of one program? Would be a waste. And, if the
users share the package, they shouldn't be allowed to write to the binaries
anymore, of course. This'll need a lot of thinking first.
