FYI, I think I've found a solution to this. See bug 120515: libtool was
assuming that ARM (and anything it didn't recognise) was using glibc
2.1.1 or lower, and therefore making things fail. Re-running libtoolize
(with package 1.4.2-4 or higher) should fix this problem.
