inconstency in /var/lib/dpkg/available after fsck manual

I installed the package 'pd' and when starting it, it completely hung my
system. I had to reboot the hard way, without unmounting the disks and run fsck
manually.

I don't have access to package information anymore. /var/lib/dpkg/available
seems to be corrupted :

femto:~[0]# dpkg -l pd
dpkg: parse error, in file `/var/lib/dpkg/available' near line 2 package
telnet':
 value for `status' field not allowed in this context
femto:~[0]#

Anyone please can help ?
