How to handle licensing problem
Good day, all-
I am adopting a package, metrics, and have
uncovered a licensing problem. Namely,
two of the programs are not specifically
distributable because they have no license
documentation. According to -legal, they
have no place in Debian.
I have a possible lead to the author of one
of the programs and am attempting to
contact. The other program does not in-
clude any information about its origin.
The question is: do I simply remove
the offending programs in the updated
package or is there some proceeding that
must take place for such a change?
At first glance, I think I am willing to write
a replacement for one of them but not the
other. I will decide that after some
more investigation.
Thanks for your advice,
-=greg
