It seems to be that the icons in some packages have so many colours
that they use up the whole colour palette, or something like this. I
solved the problem by changing my /etc/menu-methods/fvwm:
function start($var,$com)=\
"+ \"" escfirst(title(),$hotkey,"&") \
- cond_surr(icon(),"%","%") "\" " $var " " $com "\n"
+ "\" " $var " " $com "\n"
Then I get no icons in my menu but I still have colours left in my
palette!
