As far as I recall, This number (940-0024B) is mentioned quite frequently
in the NUT mailing lists 
(ups@lists.exploits.org and upsdev@lists.exploits.org). Those lists are
archived in lists.exploits.org.
The upstream author is very responsive. Unfortunately he is away till
the end of the week.
