yes. dump. purge. install. reload - there are IMHO way too much possible
configurations to can safely do this automaticaly. And that's what is the
.deb also trying to do - automaticaly. So do it by hand and you're OK.

they mostly use tha same on-disk DB, so it really doesn't matter. you can I
think run with old DB with new server and even convert it on the fly
