It doesn't appear to here:

  [cjw44@riva ~]$ dpkg -c gnome-applets_1.2.4-1.deb | grep beats
  [cjw44@riva ~]$ 

What version of gnome-applets do you have? Is your package database
perhaps corrupted (check /var/lib/dpkg/info/gnome-applets.list)?
