Umm...Because that's where bugs.debian.org goes? apt TELLS me to file
a bug because something doesn't exist in the archive. What else am
I supposed to do? Ignore it?

Yes, that is absolutely the fix required. Unfortunately, I have neither
the time nor the expertise to do this properly. Otherwise, believe me,
I would. Can some of the apt code be levereged?

What task package would that be? Shouldn't it be a smooth upgrade?

Wow. That is uncalled for. Please remember that I did not send
anything to you about XF4 until _you_ brought up the issue.
Obviously I'm not making any headway. Perhaps I have worded
things badly. I apologize for that.

So now I _shouldn't_ go to incoming? Even when _everyone_ else who
responded says I should?
In fact, I did grab the package off of incoming, and everything is
working beautifully (well, except for NFS, which is in another thread).
Thank you to those of you who have been so helpful, even in the
face of my frustration and lapses in memory/judgement/whatever. It
is very, very much appreciated.

Please end this thread now. Things are working for me (except for
NFS). If you wish to discuss ways to improve various Debian packages,
by all means please continue the dialogue. But I have no stomach
for flames.
